What is network security? Simple definition
First what is a network?
The network, which we refer here is the computer network that has as many definitions from many sources, both on the Internet or elsewhere. In short, a network interconnecting cables and other means of communication, connectivity devices, such as switches and routers, electronic devices such as computers, printers, scanners, plotters, etc., for the purpose of sharing data and Resources.
Whoa! Well, this does not sound anything but easy, right? All right, let's try a second …
A network is the interconnection of the media, connectivity, equipment and devices to share data and resources.
Well ', was not too difficult right? And here's the second question …
What is security?
This is easy, since the word means the safety or care, protection and welfare.
So in simple terms,> Network Security refers to any undertaking to protect the network.
Why should we protect or "secure" the network?
We need to protect the network, as constant threats to the network against the "Resources" in the share. These could be valuable information or data on our employees and customers, or even more about our products or companies. Most of these threats in the form of:
* Viruses, worms and TrojansHorses
* Spyware and Adware
* Zero-day attacks, also known as zero-hour attacks
* Hacker Attacks
* Denial of service
* The data interception and theft
* Identity Theft
To understand us, what "Network Security Solution" is, we must also understand, as Network Security works. Because there are a multitude of threats, there is no single solution. There are multiple layers of protection, so if one fails, the attacker couldto deal with the next layer.
Network Security Systems are typically composed of many components of the software maintenance and hardware to minimize, which are designed to work together, and Improve Safety. The software must be updated constantly to prevent new threats.
Some of these components:
* Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware
* Firewall to block unauthorized access to the network
* Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) to detect and blockAttacks
* Virtual Private Networks (VPN) for secure remote access
