Bridges

Bridges learn the association of ports and addresses by examining the source address of frames that can be seen in various ports. Once a picture is through a gate, the source address is stored and the bridge assumes that MAC address is connected to that port. The first time that an unknown destination address is seen above, the bridge of the frame to all ports other than the frame arrived.
Bridges come in three basic types:
1. Local bridges: Directly connect local area networks (LANs)
2. Remote bridges: Can be used in a Wide Area Network (WAN) to create connections between local networks. Remote bridges, where the connection is slower than the networks finals, largely been replaced by routers.
3. Wireless bridges: Can be used to enter or LAN to LAN connect external drives
Switches

Switches, routers and bridges, and distribute the traffic load or application content (eg a Web URL identifier) devices is a marketing term. Switches one or more (that is, from beginning to end) physical, data link, network or transport layers, including the OSI model, can operate. Multiple layers of activity at the same time that a device called a multi-layer switch.
Bad “key” is defined in terms that try to understand the first network Overemphasizing often leads to confusion. Many experienced network designers and operators, equipment not related to only one protocol level, each with a logic that are covered by OSI recommended starting. Multilayer device selection by the selection of the applications in question could lead to an advanced topic, but it is not only a multi-layer switching, real-world design concept.
